The “Tree of Life” for I LIVE FOR ME

A sensitive event raising awareness on cancer survivors

THE NEED

The non- profit organization I LIVE FOR ME seeks to bring together patients with cancer and chronic diseases with a group of doctors, psychologists and professionals from the field of beauty to help patients and their families with simple, practical, everyday advice, seminars and information events in order to manage the impact of the disease on their daily lives and regain their lost confidence.

At the same time, I LIVE FOR ME launches awareness campaigns on cancer prevention and other chronic diseases.

THE CHALLENGE

Going through cancer and surviving is a life changing experience not only for the person involved but also for the family and friends around. We had to create impact, awareness and a strong call to action, while at the same time expressing respect and sensitivity for those involved. We had to design a quality activity that would touch people’s hearts and minds.

THE SOLUTION

On Sunday June 1st, at the entrance of the Astir beach in Vouliagmeni, we placed a mulberry tree and everyone was invited to write a message of hope on a paper butterfly which would then be placed on the tree. The “Tree of Life” became full of colourful butterflies with optimistic, joyful messages. Participants were also encouraged to share their message and declare their participation. We invited them to take pictures with joyful props on our photo booth and post their message on Facebook. User generated content and earned media made our effort reach thousands of people, conveying the message of joy, optimism and love for life.
